Bankruptcy filings in first two months increased in Arizona

Bankruptcy filings rose in Arizona over the first two months of 2010. According to the U.S. Bankruptcy Court of Arizona, bankruptcy filing numbers totaled 3,950.

That number was a 45 percent increase from the same time last year. In most cases, individuals filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, which typically does not require repayment of certain debts. At the same time, Chapter 13 bankruptcy filings increased 60 percent compared to the same time last year.
