The CEO of Marie Callender has announced that the resteraunt will be filing for chapter 11 bankruptcy. He also stated that this was the right decision for the company during the fallin economy.

The company began to experience problems in 2004 after the economy started to fall and the housing market was crashed. The restaurant plans to close 64 of its 600 locations, which means that nearly 2,500 jobs will be lost.

Thirty-one locations have already been closed. Restuarants in California and Arizona were closed without notice yesterday. Marie Callendar's was founded in 1948 as a pie seller wholesale outlet, but it later expanded to homestyle cooking and frozen foods.
