Can bankruptcy courts erase IRS debt?

by Administrator 4. December 2009 02:05

Many bankruptcy filers are not current on their tax liability payments. For this reason, they face claims by the IRS, which require the taxpayer to make any outstanding payments.

However, when taxpayers file for bankruptcy, they often can get their tax payments delayed until they are out of bankruptcy. While these tax payments do not go away, taxpayers can benefit from the deferral tax savings that come from bankruptcy filings.

If you or anyone you know is considering filing for bankruptcy, contat the Arizona bankruptcy lawyers of the Harmon Law Office at 480-829-0494.
