The parent company to Casa Bonita has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

Star Buffet Inc. is a Scottsdale, Ariz.-based company that filed for bankruptcy on Sept. 28. The decision to file for bankruptcy came after the company decided that they would be unable to pay a $723,489.02 judgement that was placed on the company.

Although the company is profitable, they have been unable to refinance certain mortgages until January 2012. Casa Bonita is a family-style eating restaurant that opened in 1974. Star Buffet currently owns and operates 31 restaurants and subsidaries.
