Young people likely to have credit card debt

by Administrator 25. April 2011 06:19

A recent study found that many young people often have massive amounts of credit card debt. Some have attributed this problem to a lack of financial education for people when they are in high school and college.

The study found that around 50% of households that are headed by someone in their 20s or early 30s has credit card debt. One 27-year-old woman stated that she owed $20,000 to credit card companies from money she spent during her college years.

Another cause of the debt problem is that many students believe they will get a good job once graduating college and that will help them pay their credit card bills. However, the economy has still not fully recovered and many recent graduates of college have found it difficult to get jobs.
